Kajsa Ollongren was born on May 28, 1967, in Leiden, Netherlands. She is married and has two children.

Political Career

Minister of Defence

Ollongren was appointed Minister of Defence in the fourth Rutte government on January 10, 2022. Prior to that, she served as Minister of the Interior and Kingdom Relations from 2017 to 2022.

As Minister of Defence, Ollongren is responsible for the Dutch Armed Forces and the country's defence policy. She has visited several countries in her role, including Iraq, Israel, and the Palestinian Authority.

In addition to her role as Minister of Defence, Ollongren has also held the following positions:

• Mayor of Amstelveen (2009-2017)
• Member of the House of Representatives (2006-2009)
• Political consultant

Ollongren is a member of the Democratic 66 (D66) political party.
