What is a Stroke?
An Ischemic Stroke
An ischemic stroke occurs when blood flow to the brain becomes blocked by a blood clot or a piece of fatty plaque. This can happen in the arteries that carry blood to the brain or in the smaller blood vessels within the brain itself. Ischemic strokes are the most common type of stroke, accounting for about 87% of all strokes.
