Local elections: millions to vote in England
Millions of adults in England will vote for who they want to run their local areas today, but experts have also warned that only some areas are taking part.
Local council elections are held every four years, and this year there are about 4,360 seats up for grabs.
Voters will be able to choose candidates from a range of parties, including the Conservatives, Labour, the Liberal Democrats, and the Greens.
The results of the elections will be closely watched by all the main political parties, as they will give an indication of how they are likely to perform in the next general election.
Some experts have said that the scale of defeat for the Conservatives could worry the party, while others have said that the results could give Labour a boost ahead of the next general election.
