After more than a year of negotiations, the Minnesota Vikings and star wide receiver Justin Jefferson have agreed to a four-year, $140 million contract extension, the team announced Monday. The deal includes $110 million in guaranteed money, making Jefferson one of the highest-paid receivers in the NFL.
"First off, I want to thank the man above," Jefferson said in a statement. "Without God, this wouldn't be possible at all." Jefferson, who was entering the final year of his rookie contract, had been seeking a long-term extension that would make him one of the league's top-paid wide receivers. He has been one of the most productive receivers in the NFL since entering the league in 2020, amassing over 4,000 receiving yards and 34 touchdowns in just three seasons.
The Vikings are coming off a disappointing 13-4 season in 2023, but Jefferson's extension is a sign that the team is committed to building a contender around him. Jefferson is just 26 years old and is entering his prime, so the Vikings are hoping that he can be a key part of their success for years to come.
